PEDAGOGY SESSIONS
Session 1: Presenter: Ernst Schneider: Overview of Romantic music, art, literature and architecture. What was happening musically in Canada at this time? Session 2: Presenter: Ina Dykstra Dance Portion Presenter: Adela Cleverley The Waltz: roots and development through the Romantic Period, including Chopin's waltz style, general repertoire and even dancing! Session 3: Presenter: Tenley Dyck New Canadian piano works written in the Romantic Style. Session 4: Presenter: Debra Wanless Developing student 'processing' to reach full potential and independence. Session 5: Presenter: Christopher Norton at the piano. Session 6 Presenter: Lynette Sawatsky Motivating Students in your Piano Studio: Lynette will look at key strategies for, benefits of and practical ways to motivate students in the studio. CONCERTS Monday evening: Jen Smith Lanthier & Irene Enns, 2-piano recital Monday evening: Christopher Norton at the piano. Tuesday evening: New Canadian works performed by students, teachers and composers. CNCM would like to thank all who came together to make Summer Sizzle in Biggar such a great event! It is with great pleasure that Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music Board of Directors has awarded Summer Sizzle 2018 to the community of Biggar, SK! Summer Sizzle 2018 already has many composers and guests planning to attend including Wes Froese, Debra Wanless, Jen Smith Lanthier and Christopher Norton. Summer Sizzle Keyboard Kamp & Pedagogy Symposium is a national music conference created by Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music. Summer Sizzle is the only national conference to bring together Canadian composers, students of all ages and levels, teachers, parents and grandparents - working and sharing with all who attend. It is a truly historic event. Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music is mandated to promote and support Canadian music at all levels and is committed to bringing this same Canadian music to communities across Canada. It is our hope that all of you will support and attend this exciting event in Biggar on August 8th and 9th! Let's make Summer Sizzle 2018 bigger and better in Biggar! Can't wait to see you in August!
