Grade Nine History
Co-requisite for Grade Nine Practical Exams
Examination Options:
One 3 Hour Written Examination and one 20 minute Listening Examination
Two 1.5 Hour Written Examinations and one 20 minute Listening Examination as follows:
Part 1: Listening Examination
Part 2: Medieval and Renaissance Periods
Part 3: Baroque and Classical Periods
ALL THREE examinations MUST be completed within FIVE consecutive examination sessions and ALL THREE parts MUST achieve a minimum of 60% for option B.
Grade Nine History includes historical and biographical topics, stylistic information, definitions and musical excerpts from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Periods. The Listening Examination will be drawn from assigned listening material and require identification of composer, genre and general information.
Grade Ten History

Part 2: Comparison of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods
Part 3: Romantic Period and Canadian Content

One 2-Hour Written Examinations 20th Century Music
One 20-minute Listening Examination 20th Century Music
One Canadian Content Research paper and 30-minute oral presentation
ALL THREE examinations MUST be completed within FIVE consecutive examination sessions and ALL THREE parts MUST achieve a minimum of 60% for option B.
Associate History includes historical and biographical topics, stylistic information, definitions and musical excerpts from the 20th Century. The Listening Examination will be drawn from assigned listening material and require identification of composer, genre and general information. The Canadian Content Research Paper and oral presentation should be based on the pre-assigned topics.
