Janet Gieck grew up in rural Saskatchewan. After completing degrees from Prairie Bible College (Three Hills, AB) and the Royal Conservatory of Music, she has had her music performed at various concerts, New Music Festivals and on CBC radio. In 2012, Janet won the junior choral category of a competition initiated by the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association. She is a member of the Saskatoon Composers' Performance Society, the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers' Association, and the composer's collective Red Leaf Pianoworks. Janet lives with her husband and three children in Saskatoon, SK. She is currently promoting Canadian music through her involvement on the Saskatchewan New Music Festival committee, and by heading up the Saskatoon branch of the Contemporary Showcase music festival.
