The Seasons series is an exciting addition to the publications of the Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music.
The Preparatory collection features 25 pieces by 21 composers from across Canada. Some names will be familiar along with a number of new composers. Students will enjoy seeing photos of the composers included with the biographies. This collection is useful as a resource for a variety of functions and levels: Canadian content for festivals, recitals, examinations, sight reading, quick study, and supplemental material.
Take a journey through the year with two pieces for each month (three for February) featuring a wide variety of styles, metres, tonalities and pedagogical concepts. In addition to simple metre this collection includes irregular, compound and even a metreless composition. To facilitate the learning process, suggested fingerings and measure numbers have been included. Program notes (at the back) enhance the enjoyment of each piece.
