Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music is pleased to
announce the expansion of our CNCM te
am with the appointment of
Sandra Mogensen and Wes Froese to the position
s of Executive Co-Directors.
Picture
Sandra Mogensen has extensive pedagogical experience, both as a piano teacher and a coach for singers. Having taught piano internationally via Skype since 2012, she was well-positioned to continue her online teaching when the pandemic situation arose. A former senior member of the Royal Conservatory of Music Board of Examiners, Sandra is currently examining for Northern Lights Canadian National Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada. She enjoys adjudicating students of all ages and levels, as a way to support and encourage personal and musical development, while sharing her love for music.

As a performer, pianist Sandra Mogensen is equally at home in two worlds: performing as a solo pianist and co-performing with singers in recital. She has played in concert in both capacities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Latvia, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria. [more]

Sandra is excited about working with CNCM in her new role as Executive Co-Director.

Composers At Work

9/1/2021

Northern Lights CNCM is pleased to announce the next phase of our online programs under the umbrella of CNCM Composers At Work; expanding on the pilot programs we introduced during the summer of 2021.  We continue to be committed to supporting and promoting Canadian music at all levels. The CNCM Composers At Work programs have been designed to connect composers, teachers, students and families through three exciting interactive online options.

Teachers, students and aspiring composers now have the opportunity to interact with Canadian composers from across this great country regardless of where they live and work.

Composers at Work programs include:
  1. Composers & Educators: a hands-on session with one of CNCM’s listed composers to discuss the composer’s selected work(s) with demonstrations and Q&A interaction.
  2. Composers & Composition: a hands-on session with one of CNCM’s listed composers. The aspiring composer submits an original piano composition (with a video/recording) for review prior to the online session.
  3. Composers & Kids: a hands-on session with one of CNCM’s listed composers. Participant will submit a performance video for the composer to view prior to a C&K session. Applicants will each interact with the composer during the online session.
