Joyce Pinckney began her music education in Wiseton, Saskatchewan. She completed training in the field of nursing before returning to the study of piano and harmony at the University of Saskatchewan. After a career as a teacher and performer in Middle Eastern Belly Dancing, Joyce pursued jazz studies and graduated with a Performance Diploma from Grant MacEwan College. Joyce resides in Edmonton, Alberta, where she raised her own three children and continues to teach, perform, and compose. Joyce’s compositions reflect children’s life and activities. She brings together classical methods to learn jazz, blues and improvisation.
